Bartow County Learning Center
The Bartow County Learning Center is a new and innovative program of choice that seeks self-motivated, academically prepared students who are ready for a rigorous, personalized and authentic learning experience. BartowCounty Schools’ Virtual Academy is open for students in grades 6-12. The Virtual Academy offers students the opportunity to engage in a digital learning environment to achieve their individual potential through innovative, flexible, socially connected, and student-focused education. . Virtual Academy students must be residents of Bartow County entering the school system for the first time from Home School or Private School or current secondary students in the Bartow County School System.
Students will attend courses at the Learning Center part time and can access the courses at home supporting a flexible learning schedule. Admission to the Bartow County Learning Center is by application only. Applications are available at each secondary school as well as the Virtual Academy. Students that apply are evaluated as to their potential success virtual learning, with consideration given to fifth year seniors and seniors who need only a few credits for graduation.
Students who have a high probability of success in an online learning environment generally display the following characteristics:
1. Self-motivated and exhibits characteristics of maturity
2. Possesses reading and writing skills at or above their current grade level
3. Willing to ask the teacher for help
4. Exhibits organizational and time management skills
5. Comfortable with the technology required by the course
6. Expectations of online learning courses are realistic
