Construction is underway on Old Alabama Road near Woodland High School, with a current completion date of October 31, 2024.
The Georgia Department of Transportation project will ultimately provide our families with a wider road in front of Woodland High School and a new entrance to the school, which will be equipped with a red light. According to GDOT, the center of the new entrance will be 450 feet west of the eastern most existing entryway. (See attached map below) The signal will have pedestrian accommodations along with speed reduction signage posted on the approaches to the school.
During construction, entrances and exits at Woodland High School will remain open.
Detours should be expected but announced ahead of time by GDOT. (See attached detour map below)
The posted speed limit will be 55 miles per hour and the school zone advisory speed limit will be 45 miles per hour.
We anticipate these changes enhancing the safety of our students, staff, and families in the near future.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call school administrators at Woodland High School or Central Office.
