AMS FBLA TAKES ON RALLY
On October 14, 2021, the students of the Adairsville Middle School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America kicked off their year with a field trip to the Georgia National Fairgrounds. The National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia hosted this year's Georgia FBLA Fall Motivational Rally, where students could not only participate in FBLA related activities, but they also had some freedom to enjoy the many rides that the fair had to offer.
This year was AMS' first time attending the Rally. Of the 55 members, 38 attended the Rally. As the chapter's first field trip in two years, and the first time attending this particular event, no one was sure what to expect.
In preparation of this event, the members had to register for a competitive event ranging from Business Etiquette to Social Media Concepts. Study materials were provided in a digital format. In addition to the tests, the chapter also entered three submission events. The first event was a t-shirt design contest. The chapter President, Allison Potter, and chapter Treasurer, Bella Fidazzo, took on the task of creating this year's chapter t-shirt. They chose the theme, "Empowering Members Daily," and filled the back of the shirt with empowering words to remind members to strive for greatness. The second entry was for a small business flyer. Sixth graders, Shiloh Stovall, Addi Jerauld, and AnnaBella King created a flyer for a local small business. They chose the local donut shop, Fresh Donuts. The final submission event was to create a recruitment video for FBLA. Jolynn Valentine, Carley Aspenwall, and Allison Potter wrote, directed, and filmed their own recruitment video to encourage people to join any level of FBLA. Results for these entries have not been released yet.
With over 50 other chapters in attendance, the chapter was slightly overwhelmed to begin with. As the day progressed and the chapter found their footing, they were able to take in all of the information from the day and enjoy many of the fair's rides.
Looking back, the students learned a lot from the key speaker, the testing, and the overall atmosphere of the day. Members will continue to study for their competitive events for the Regional Leadership Tests. The next field trip planned for this chapter is the Fall Leadership Conference in Athens, Georgia in November.
