Students engineered different designs to prop up our sunflower sprouts that hopefully will attract finches in the fall with the seeds it produces!!


This morning, 2nd grade had a TEAMS meeting with Woodland High School students from the AP Biology class and magnet program. Students were able to ask questions and learn more about life cycles.

Thank you EKG for coming and encouraging our fifth grade students to be the best that they can be! We've loved having you come in this year to speak to our students every month.





Josh Trower and Amy Torrence from The Southern Museum provided 1st grade students with a hands-on presentation of how trains use magnets. Students learned about how magnetic forces repel or attract, electromagnetism, and how our earth is a big magnet due to its iron core!
REAL WORLD CONNECTIONS:
Junk yards use electro-magnets to load freight trains. Students can see freight cars full of scrap metal going through Emerson.
The steam locomotive that was stolen during the Great Locomotive chase ran through Emerson. This train is on display at The Southern Museum.





Red Top Middle School's Honor Band and Honor Chorus visited 5th grade students yesterday to share information about joining band and chorus in middle school. It was great to see all the Emerson alumni participating!

Students are using recycled material to create a prototype portable garden for HomeDepot. They have researched soil and determined a fraction of soil types to grow their tomatoes. They will determine the best soil by measuring who has the biggest plant.





Pre-ordered field day shirts and pre-ordered yearbooks will be distributed on Friday.



Thank you to Mr. Thomas from the Bartow County Public Library for coming in today and sharing all the wonderful things happening at the public library this summer! Our students had a great time!





Look for the WHS Cheer Camp flyer coming home today. Cheer Camp will be June 6-8 from 9am-12pm. Please support Emerson Eagle Marion Bennett, or any former Emerson Elementary student that is cheering, as your referring cheer leader when signing up.

Bryan and Phoebe from the Etowah Valley Humane Society visited Emerson Beta Club members today. Students learned about the animals at the shelter and how the shelter runs. They asked lots of questions and gave Phoebe lots of love. Members helped load all the donations collected from Emerson families into the truck headed back to the humane society.





Thank you to Gene Lee at Peachtree Planning for sponsoring Mister Softee for our teachers today for Teacher Appreciation week. It was such a yummy treat!
