The First Visit

Once you've been assigned to a classroom, please report to the main entrance of the school and ring the buzzer.  Inform the secretary that you are there for Read to Grow and report to the main office.  Some schools will have you sign in on their computer system or in a notebook and you will receive a visitor's pass.  Please be sure to display that so others know the purpose of your visit.  This is simply a safety measure.

The classroom teacher will show you what you will be working on with a small group.  Some prefer their volunteers to work with the same students each time, while others rotate the students through stations so you may see several different groups during your visit.  Don't worry, the activities are fun and reinforce what the teacher has been explaining in class.  You'll do great!
