Josie Nelson Selected for National STEM Program at Vanderbilt University
Josie Nelson of Rome, Georgia, has been selected to attend the prestigious Pathways to STEM program at Vanderbilt University this summer. The residential program, hosted by Envision by WorldStrides, brings together outstanding students from across the nation for hands-on learning experiences in Medicine, Engineering, and Forensic Science.
A high-achieving 5th-grade student at Adairsville Elementary School, Josie maintains a consistent record of straight As and is a member of Bartow County’s Gateway gifted program. She is known for her maturity, leadership, and dedication both in and out of the classroom. Josie serves as a STEAM Ambassador, Safety Patrol officer, and has been an active member of Spanish Club for five years. She also competes in academic events such as the Bartow County Technology Competition and 4-H Project Achievement, where her peers elected her as 4-H School President.
Inspired by her teachers and school leaders, Josie is excited to collaborate with other high-achieving students while exploring her passion for STEM through real-world simulations and innovative problem-solving experiences.
