Recently, AES Pre‑K students welcomed visitors from AHS Drama for an engaging, STEAM‑rich experience centered on a lively, dance‑themed book. Far beyond a traditional read‑aloud, the high school students incorporated homemade instruments to demonstrate how sound is created using everyday materials, helping students explore differences in pitch, volume, and rhythm while making connections to science and engineering concepts.
Movement and creativity were woven throughout the visit using interactive dance props and guided activities that encouraged students to explore tempo, balance, and expressive movement. A highlight was an informative discussion about footwear used in acting and dance, prompting students to consider how materials and design support safe and effective movement. This collaborative experience showcased how STEAM learning can come alive through the arts while building confidence, curiosity, and meaningful connections between grade levels.
