students eating a snack after working food pantry

As we wrap up the school year, we want to take a moment to celebrate the impact of our Helping Hands Ending Hunger program at AHS. Through the generosity, time, and support of our school community, we were able to make a meaningful difference for many of our students and families this year while also strengthening parent engagement and school/family connections.

2025–2026 Program Highlights:

  • 150 families supported

  • 292 children impacted

  • 3,860 pounds of food distributed

  • 30 food distributions completed

  • 120 volunteer hours served

  • Hosted two drive-through food pantry pickups serving all AHS feeder schools

We would especially like to recognize and thank Mrs. Lawhorn’s class (Ms. Nation, Ms. Guinn, Ms. Stork) for their continued assistance and support throughout the year. Their hard work, dedication, and willingness to help made a tremendous impact on our program and the families we serve. As we begin planning for the next school year, there may be opportunities for clubs and school groups to support AHS students and families through canned food drives and service projects.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered and supported this program throughout the year!
