BCSS Summer Intervention Program Notice

Through our Learning Communities process, we are committed to all of our students meeting proficiency on the identified essential standards. Each grade level and subject area collaboration team identified the essential standards through a rigorous process. The essential standards are the critical skills, knowledge, and dispositions each student must acquire as a result of each course, grade level, and unit of instruction in preparation for the next grade level, related courses, and state assessments.

During the year, students have been provided Tier I instruction on each essential standard followed by Tier II interventions for students who did not show proficiency following the Common Summative Assessment. To ensure we meet this commitment to all students meeting proficiency, following the Milestone Assessments (EOG/EOC), all grade levels and subject areas will provide Tier II interventions to those students on the essential standards where they are not meeting proficiency. Extension activities (Activities where students are stretched beyond essential grade-level curriculum or levels of proficiency), will be provided to students who have met proficiency on the essential standards through the last day of school.

For students who do not meet proficiency on one of more essential standards by the last day of school, we are requiring attendance to an in-person Intervention Program this summer. Specifically, Elementary and Middle School students who have not met proficiency on all their essential standards in ELA/Reading and Math by the last day of school and High School students who scored between a 50 and 64 for their final grade in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
