what's going around: Flu A; fever, cough, headache, body aches; Norovirus: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; PinkEye: red , itchy eyes with drainage; Remind students and parents, students need to stay home if they have: fever 100* or higher, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, strep throat, flu, covid, pinkeye with drainage; tips and reminders: hand sanitizer is okay if hands are not visibly soied, cover cough and sneezes with elbow or tissue, never use bare hands; knowing when to keep a child home from school can be a difficult decisiton for parents. leeting the child rest at home helps them feel better quickly and prevents the child from infectin gother students; students may return to school when they are fever free for 24 hours without medications, free of vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours, on antibiotics for 24 hours; tips and reminders: encourage students to wash their hands with soap and water for 20-30 seconds; what we are doing in the school: regularly clean desks, door handles, light switches, adn other commonly touched surfaces to prevent germs from spreading. encouraging good hand hygiene and cough etiquette among our students and staff

According to the provisions of House Bill 251 (2009), parents/legal guardians who reside in Bartow County and are zoned for a Bartow County School can request to have their children enrolled in a school within the district, other than the one they are zoned to attend, as long as the school meets certain criteria. If students transfer to another school in compliance with the process established by the Bartow County School System, the parents/legal guardians must assume all expenses and responsibilities related to the transportation of the students to and from the new school. Transferring students are required to maintain acceptable attendance, grades and behavior. Parents/legal guardians are expected to maintain a cordial and cooperative working relationship with school personnel. Out of Zone: Resides in Bartow County but NOT within the city limits of Cartersville Out of District: Resides in Cartersville City or an adjacent county (subject to Principal approval; tuition is required) The district’s 2025-26 application process will open at 8:00 a.m. on February 3, 2025, and will close at 3:00 p.m. on February 28, 2025. No additional applications will be taken after 3:00 p.m. on February 28th. Applications will be made available online, www.bartow.k12.ga.us, at the Bartow County School System’s Central Office, the Central Registration Office, as well as the individual schools. NOTE: All applications will be made available beginning February 3rd. Questions or concerns related to this process should be directed to Alyson Prater at 770.606.5800 ext 2196. *Available space is based on enrollment and teacher allotments. Not every school listed will have space available at every grade level
