A colorful school flyer titled “Chicken Day – Thursday, February 5, 2026.” The Pine Log Elementary STEM logo appears in the upper left corner. The flyer features multiple photos of chickens in different colors and breeds, as well as a carton of eggs. A red text box in the center reads: “Wear chicken-related clothing and accessories, or solid colors of the Pine Log Chicks.” A yellow box announces: “Show your support with a temporary chicken tattoo or water bottle sticker for 50¢, available on Chicken Day at the Dojo store from 7:20 am – 7:55 am.” Photo captions include: “We welcome two new hens donated by Mrs. Eva Brown.” “Pine Log Chicken names: Karen, Felicia, Lucky, Sugar, Fluffy, Lottie, Ginger, Kota, Comfort.” Decorative chicken-themed graphics appear throughout the flyer, including small illustrated chicks, feathers, and borders.

News from the Hen Den: In celebration of the Pine Log Chicks, we will have Chicken Day on Thursday, February 5. This is a fun day to dress up and show off your Chicken Dance moves. PTCO is selling Chick-fil-A biscuits before school for $4 each.

We have eleven hens in the Hen Den: Karen, Felicia, Lucky, Sugar, Fluffy, Lottie, Ginger, Kota, Comfort, and two new hens sponsored by Mrs. Eva Brown. The Pine Log Chicks are part of the PBL for Pre-K through second grades. Kindergarten studies animal life cycles, while first grade uses data to determine the impact of weather on egg production, and second grade focus on the impact of length of day has on egg production.

One of the goals of the Pine Log Chicks is to remain financially self-sustainable which is possible through generous donations of feed and supplies to keep the Hen Den a healthy habitat for our feathered friends. Thank you for your support of the Pine Log Chicks.
