The mission of Tome Student Literacy Society is to promote multiple literacies among 3rd-12th grade students across the United States through: service; collaboration; competition-based club activities; and clean, entertaining, encouraging literature. Red Top Middle School had our first ever Jr. Tome Society this school year! Students enjoyed reading a variety of books and discussing them together. They also participated in quizzes to test their knowledge of the books. The culminating activity was TomeCon in March! Students were able to meet some of their favorite authors including Alan Gratz, J.L. Esplin and Leslie Lutz. All workshops at TomeCon were led by published authors and the students had a blast putting their expert advice into practice. The Red Top Readers – Jr. Tome Society is led by Media Specialist, Shannon Hensley and ESOL Teacher, Dr. Connie McSwain.
