Woodland High School students posing for an award

The Bartow County School System celebrates a historic milestone as 254 students have earned a place on the College Board’s 2025 Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar Roster, receiving a record-breaking 361 awards.

The College Board’s AP Program offers academically prepared students the opportunity to take rigorous, college-level courses while still in high school. Students who perform successfully on AP exams may earn college credit, advanced placement, or both. The program recognizes students across three levels of achievement:

  • AP Scholar with Distinction: Awarded to 58 Bartow County students who earned an average score of 3.5 or higher on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams.

  • AP Scholar with Honor: Awarded to 38 Bartow County students who earned an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams.

  • AP Scholar: Awarded to 210 Bartow County students who earned scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.

In addition to these honors, 29 students countywide completed the AP Capstone Diploma Program, a two-year sequence focused on developing advanced academic skills in critical thinking, collaboration, public speaking, and research. Another 26 students earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate, demonstrating excellence in inquiry-based learning and independent investigation.

“We are pleased to also recognize our AP Teachers of Distinction and AP Teachers of Distinction with Honor,” said Paula Camp, Director of Advanced Learning, STEM, and Gifted Programs. “Their rigorous instruction and support are instrumental to the success of these intellectually gifted students. With our AP Teachers of Distinction, more than 80 percent of their students took the AP exams, and over half scored a 3 or higher. Those recognized as AP Teachers of Distinction with Honor had a 90 percent participation rate, with more than 70 percent of students scoring a 3 or higher.”

Camp added, “I am astonished by the growth we’ve seen in our AP program over the last seven years. More students each year are developing essential skills for college success—critical thinking, time management, and independent study. I am incredibly proud of our students’ commitment to academic excellence.”
