Cass High School GHP district nominees

The Bartow County School System is proud to announce that 27 exceptional high school students have been selected as District Nominees for the 2025–2026 Georgia Governor’s Honors Program (GHP). These students have demonstrated remarkable academic achievement, artistic talent, and leadership potential, earning them the opportunity to advance in one of Georgia’s most prestigious educational programs.

From Adairsville High School, the following students were selected: Ja’Sean Harper (Computer Science), Jamie Tanksley (Agricultural Research, Biotechnology, and Science), Finn Minhinnett (Engineering: Mechanical & Aerospace), Isabella Swain (Social Studies), Sarah Harper Lee (Social Studies), Bailee Scott (Social Studies), Jordon Goodwin (Engineering), Charlie Self (Science: Biology/Environmental), Sophia Vasquez-Munguia (Engineering: Civil), Cheyenne Gilley (Engineering), Francisco Flores (Engineering: Civil), Brooklynne Mulkey (Music: Tenor), Karmyn Padilla (Theatre), and Zachary Brasington (Theatre).

Cass High School nominees include: London Barrere (Communicative Arts), Charley Doyle (World Languages: Chinese), Booker Gearhart (Social Studies), Kinley Gearhart (Social Studies), Nathan Loveless (Music: Percussion), and Demarco Ventura (Social Studies).

Woodland High School is represented by: Joseph Adams (Theatre), Anthony Harrison (Music: Percussion), Makayla Rieske (Theatre), Jannat Muhammad (Science: Biology/Environmental), Ethan North (Science: Biology/Environmental), William Moises (Science: Biology/Environmental), and Addison Osborne (Communicative Arts).

These students will now complete a state-level application by January 9, 2026. Semifinalists will be announced on February 6, 2026, and will be invited to interview or audition at Georgia Southern University on February 28 or March 14, 2026. Finalists and alternates will be announced on March 20, 2026.

Finalists will participate in the elite, four-week summer residential program at Georgia Southern University beginning June 14, 2026. During the program, students will attend classes in their specific areas of study, engaging in advanced instruction and enrichment opportunities not typically available in traditional classrooms.

“What an impressive group of Academic and Fine Arts candidates,” said GHP Coordinator Paula Camp. “Their interviews and performances truly showcased their talent and passion. These students exemplify the excellence we strive for, and we’re thrilled to see them move forward in the state-level application process. With over 70 hopefuls participating in district interviews, selecting these 27 was no easy task. We also want to recognize and celebrate all the students who interviewed. Your dedication is inspiring. Sophomores, we encourage you to return next year and shine as juniors.”

The Governor’s Honors Program is fully funded by the Georgia General Assembly and continues to provide transformative educational experiences for Georgia’s most gifted and talented students.
