As we close another successful school year, I want to thank our students, staff, families, and community for your continued support of the Bartow County School System.
Graduation season provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our students and reflect on our commitment to ensuring every student leaves our schools career, military, and/or college ready and prepared to contribute to their community. Watching our graduates walk across the stage reminded us why this work matters and the bright future ahead for each of them.
We also have many academic successes to celebrate. All high schools showed significant improvement on Georgia Milestones End of Course assessments in Algebra I, U.S. History, and Biology. Our elementary and middle schools also continue to demonstrate strong growth, especially when looking at cohort growth and how students performed from last year to this year. Due to the implementation of new ELA standards across the state, ELA Georgia Milestones scores will not be released by the state until next academic year.
Attendance was another major success this year. We saw approximately a 10% decrease in students considered chronically absent, while also improving our overall daily attendance rate systemwide. Thank you, parents and families, for partnering with us and reinforcing the importance of being at school each day.
Now it is time to gear up for summer! Relax, enjoy time with family and friends, and make lasting memories. Students, continue investing in yourselves by reading, challenging your minds, and staying connected to learning.
Have a safe and wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone back next school year!
