State School Superintendent Richard Woods has recognized Adairsville High School as one of just five schools in Georgia serving as a model for arts integrated instruction.

Adairsville High has been named a Creative School Arts Integration School of Excellence by the Georgia Department of Education. This distinction honors schools where the arts are intentionally embedded across subject areas to enhance student learning.

“AHS is extremely proud to receive this award,” said Principal Tony Stanfill. “After input from staff and students, we made the decision to add the arts this year and shift toward STEAM, creating a more inclusive environment while highlighting our exceptionally talented Fine Arts Department and its students. We have long established a strong STEM culture through collaboration, our Magnet Program, and hands on learning, so expanding to include the arts was a natural next step.

“I am incredibly appreciative of our staff’s buy in and their commitment to providing more opportunities for students to shine,” Stanfill continued. “I’m proud of how far we’ve come in a short time and excited about what lies ahead. This is just the beginning.”

At Adairsville High, students engage in learning that blends creativity with academics from theatre and music to media production and STEM, developing skills through collaboration, innovation, and real world application.

The school is also on track to become one of the first high schools in Georgia to earn whole school STEAM certification in the coming year.

The results are already evident and continuing to grow.
