Woodland High School has been awarded a $5,000 Arts Education Program Grant from Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, for fiscal year 2027.

The funding will help enhance Woodland’s school-wide musical production through upgraded costumes, set design, and other theatrical elements, giving students an even greater opportunity to showcase their talents and creativity on stage.

“We are incredibly proud to receive this Arts Education Grant,” said Woodland High School Principal Melinda Wilder. “This funding will help take our school-wide musical to the next level by enhancing costumes, set design, and other production elements. Most importantly, it gives our students an even greater opportunity to showcase their talents, creativity, and hard work. We can't wait to see the impact it has on this year's performance.”

The Arts Education Program Grant supports K-12 arts programming across Georgia, including visual arts, music, theater, dance, creative writing, arts integration, STEAM initiatives, after-school programs, and teaching artist residencies. This year, Georgia Council for the Arts awarded more than $142,000 to 32 organizations and schools in 15 counties.

“One of Georgia’s greatest assets is our young people, and these grant funds provide vital programming that contributes to a well-rounded education for Georgia students in grades K-12,” said Georgia Council for the Arts Director Tina Lilly. “Georgia Council for the Arts is excited to help our arts communities foster creativity and critical thinking skills in students through these programs, and we are grateful to the Georgia General Assembly for providing this support.”

Funding for the grants is provided through appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts. Applications are evaluated through a peer review process that follows National Endowment for the Arts standards.
