Dear Bartow County Community,
Welcome back! What a fantastic beginning we had to the new school year. The energy and excitement across the Bartow County School System have been incredible, and I am grateful to everyone who helped make the opening of school such a success.
I especially want to thank our teachers, building leaders, and staff members for the tremendous amount of work that went into preparing our schools and classrooms for our students. The time spent organizing classrooms, creating welcoming spaces, preparing lessons, and making sure every detail was ready did not go unnoticed.
Taking the time to make our classrooms shine is much more than preparing a physical space. It is an investment in our students and our community. A welcoming, engaging classroom sends an important message to every child who walks through the door: You belong here. We are glad you are here. What we are going to learn together matters.
As we move forward this year, our System Priorities will continue to lead the way in improving academic outcomes for our nearly 14,000 students. The Bartow County School System will remain focused on three priorities: strengthening Tier I instructional practices, improving student attendance, and enhancing professional learning opportunities for our staff, students, and community.
These priorities are not separate initiatives. They work together. Strong Tier I instruction ensures students receive high-quality learning experiences every day. Meaningful professional learning builds the capacity of our teachers and staff to continually improve those experiences. And strong attendance ensures our students are present to benefit from them. Aligning these three priorities provides a powerful platform for increasing student learning across our school system. We are already seeing the results of this focused work.
Last year, our students demonstrated significant improvement on high school End-of-Course assessments. Bartow County students outperformed the State of Georgia averages in Biology, U.S. History, and Algebra I. In Algebra I, students achieved the highest scores in our system's history, earning a 53.9 percent proficiency rate compared to the state average of 48 percent. These accomplishments reflect the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, school leaders, support staff, and families, and they provide tremendous momentum as we begin another school year.
To our parents and families, thank you for supporting our schools and our system priorities. Your partnership, especially in ensuring students attend school consistently, arrive ready to learn, and understand the importance of their education, is essential to our success.
To our teachers, leaders, and staff, thank you for continuing to invest in your students, your schools, and your profession. And to our entire Bartow County community, thank you for believing in and supporting our schools.
We have much to celebrate, but we also know there is more work ahead. With our priorities aligned, our classrooms focused on great teaching and learning, and our community working together, I am confident about what lies ahead. Together, we will accomplish great things for our students, our schools, and our Bartow County community.
