Our 8th Grade ELA teachers dressed the part today as they introduced students to their new novel, The Crossover!
Mrs. Creel got students moving with PE warm-ups, taught them what a basketball “crossover” actually is, and showed clips of some of the best NBA crossovers so students could build background knowledge before diving into the novel.
Mrs. Smith kept students engaged by handing out tickets for participation throughout class. At the end of the lesson, students got to cash in those tickets for chances to shoot a basketball into the crate!

We wanted to wish our friend Gracen the very best of luck as he heads off to the University of Georgia!
Gracen has been a huge help to our summer custodial crew, working hard behind the scenes to help get AMS ready for our students and staff each year. We are so thankful for all of his hard work and the time he has spent as part of our AMS!
We are definitely going to miss having him around, but we are so excited for this next chapter. Good luck at UGA, Gracen! Go Dawgs! 🐶❤️🖤

Cooperative learning in action!
Mrs. Couey’s and Mrs. Murphy’s classes put their teamwork skills to the test today with a fun communication challenge! One student was blindfolded and served as the “hands” while the rest of the group could only use their words to guide them through putting together a 100-piece puzzle.
This activity challenged students to communicate clearly, trust one another, solve problems together, and work as a team. Learning is always better when everyone has a role to play!

Hudson Champion has been selected as our Good Neighbor Award winner for the month of May. Hudson consistently demonstrates what it means to be a good neighbor through his kindness, responsibility, and willingness to help others. He is always looking for ways to assist classmates and support those around him. Hudson’s friendly attitude and caring nature make him someone others can depend on each day. AMS would like to thank State Farm Agent Matthew Scott for sponsoring this award. Hudson received a yard sign and a $25 American Express gift card!
