Girls State is a National program of the American Legion Auxiliary and is a course of instruction in, as well as, a practical application of, the fundamental principles on procedures of city, county, and state government under the American system.
It is an action-packed government simulation program for girls, who will complete their junior year of high school in May, 2022.
The objective is to provide “hands on“ training in city, county, and state government. All levels of government are explored: executive, legislative, and judicial.
As a citizen, each girl will:
- participate in a variety of activities
- learn the importance of their role in our government
- meet girls from all over Georgia
- establish life-long friendships!
An informational meeting for interested girls and their parents will be at the Carl Boyd American Legion Post 42 in Cartersville on Tuesday, March 8th at 5:30 p.m.
Reserve your place at the informational meeting by emailing or texting: your name, your school, and a contact number to cindy.rochelle18@gmail.com or 678-468-3818.
The Senior Ad deadline has been extended to January 31st. Anyone interested can visit www.yearbookordercenter.com and use school ID number 10288 to purchase and design the senior ad. Mr. Morris got DECKED (as in, Deck the Halls)!
Last week, The Last Word Literary Guild (Cass High's Book Club) hosted the Get Decked Challenge, where students could vote for a teacher to have their ENTIRE classroom wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper! The overall "winner" was math teacher, Mr. Morris! The students spent 3 hours Friday night wrapping Mr. Morris's classroom from top to bottom! Check out the photos below, and to see a video of his reaction, follow the Media Center's Instagram page @casshigh.media
Thank you Mr. Morris for being such a good sport and helping LWLG raise money for our club!

Hey Colonels! It's the most wonderful time of year! Colleges are already starting to send out their acceptances, and your Cass High family wants to celebrate YOU on our newly revamped College-Bound Colonels Wall! To get your name up on the wall, see Miss Jackson in the Media Center with your acceptance letter!
Congratulations to Chloe McMillan and Caroline Guthrie, the first two students to get onto the wall this year! Chloe was accepted to Berry College in Rome, Georgia, and Caroline was accepted to Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Georgia. Congrats Colonels!
Katelyn Marie Miller outshines them all ! Katelyn alone collected 480 cans for the Canned Food Drive to help Colonel family members. She even knocked on doors to help her Colonels ! Way to go, Katelyn Marie Miller! You are what Colonels are made of !

Representatives from the Bartow County Public Library met with Cass High's Last Word Literary Guild today to discuss the services offered specifically for teens at our public library! They also introduced us to Sora, their reading app that gives any student in the county FREE access to all of the public library's e-books and audiobooks! They finished off their talk with a came of "Guess That Banned Book," and even gave away free books to a few of our students! We are so excited about this partnership between The Last Word Literary Guild and our community's public library! Thank you, Thomas and Jesse, for taking the time to hang out with us today!
