Mrs. Boyter, Mrs. Segars, and Mrs. West recently wrote a grant. We found out this week that they were awarded the grant, and we are one of only fifteen counties in the state to receive it!! Our school will be awarded $19,998 from the GA Department of Education. The purpose of this grant is to expand access to STEM/ STEAM education through project-based learning, content integration, process-based thinking, collaborative planning, and other STEM and STEAM professional learning. Congratulations!!! Way to go Wildcats!

Mrs. Segars' Gateway class presented a "Wax Museum" to Euharlee Elementary this past week. The students loved learning about all of the historical figures from the past. Everyone did a great job!!

On Wednesday, the graduates from Woodland High School who went to Euharlee Elementary, walked our halls one last time. We are extremely proud of this group of talented and skilled graduates and look forward to hearing about all of their successes. This year the valedictorian and the salutatorian both went to Euharlee. In this graduating class is a young lady who will be competing in the Miss Georgia competition next month. We also heard many of the students talking about the academic and athletic scholarships they have received! Way to go Wildcats!!

Summer reading at the public library begins on May 27.

The bookmobile came to visit our Pre-K this morning and delivered books for them to take home for summer reading!

The summer story trails at the parks are out and ready to be read . We have some great stories this time for the trails. Hamilton Crossing's Story Trail story is “My Awesome Summer by P. Mantis.” This book is full of information and has some humor about the life cycle of a Praying Mantis. Manning Mill's Story Trail story is “Over and Under the Pond.” This book is about an ecosystem around and in a pond. It is full of facts and the contains some great pictures.

Coach Torrence and sophomores from Adairsville High School's STEM magnet program visited our fifth grade classes yesterday. They spoke with the students about civil and structural engineering in order for the students to make preparations to build their own structures that will withstand an earthquake.

Students in fifth grade have been investigating the effects of earthquakes and
tsunamis, researching structures that withstand earthquakes in seismic zones. Today the students worked through the engineering design process to build a structure that will withstand a mock earthquake using a shake table.

Ranger Travis visited our Pre-K classes this week and taught them about the different birds that live in Georgia. Thank you Ranger Travis!!

What a terrific trio of learners! These three students completed 949 units in Lexia!! Way to go!!!
