Thanks to a donation from our PTCO, we now have white bulletin board paper for student work and to make engaging displays.
The PLES PTCO is a supportive group of parents who fund supplies, events, and morale boosters to support our staff and student learning.

On a roll of bulletin board paper, a handwritten notes reads, "Thank You, PTCO! Your support helps us roll into the new school year with success." There are other rolls of paper on a metal stand against a plain brick wall.

📢 Important Updates for the 2026–2027 School Year As we prepare for another great year at Pine Log Elementary, we wanted to share a few important changes that families should be aware of before the first day of school. ⏰ Updated School Hours School hours for the 2026–2027 school year will be 7:50 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. Doors will open for student arrival at 7:00 a.m. 📱 New Cell Phone & Personal Device Policy Beginning this school year, students in grades K–8 must keep cell phones and personal electronic devices secured in their bookbags from the morning tardy bell until dismissal. This includes smart watches, headphones, gaming devices, personal laptops, and other electronic devices. The policy applies during the entire school day, including lunch, recess, and field trips. Thank you for helping us start the school year prepared and focused on learning. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on August 5, 2026! ❤️🖤

First-grade students presented puppet shows based on the series There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed... Students worked in groups to read the book, design and create the puppets using cardstock and wooden skewers, then practiced retelling the story to build fluency. The use of flashlights was a connection to the shadows and light unit for first grade.

Two students use flashlights to project light onto the screen while moving hand‑made puppets on sticks to create shadow images. Additional students sit on the floor in front of the stage area observing the performance. Bookshelves, posters, and classroom materials are visible in the background.
To celebrate completing recent testing, Mrs. McGaha shared stickers with third, fourth, and fifth graders.

The Killdeer nesting season is February through June in our area. Please be cautious on our campus whether you are on foot or in your car. As the Killdeer birds are the focus of the PBL for third through fifth grades, it's important to PLES to maintain a safe and respectful habitat for our feathered friends.

A Killdeer bird is standing on Georgia red clay in a narrow strip of ground beside a chain‑link fence. The bird has brown wings with touches of orange near the tail, a white belly, and two bold black bands across the upper chest. Small green weeds and patches of moss grow around the bird. A weathered wooden board runs along the left side of the image. The area appears to be a nesting site that has been used previously by a Killdeer, indicated by the disturbed ground and the bird’s protective posture.
