About Us

Read to Grow began in the fall of the 2018 - 2019 school year in four elementary schools. Volunteers were recruited to work with the first-grade classrooms at Allatoona, Clear Creek, Cloverleaf, and Kingston Elementary Schools.  The goal was for all students to be reading on grade level by third grade.

Teachers quickly realized students working with a Read to Grow volunteer were able to read more sight words than in previous years. Read to Grow then expanded to all 12 elementary schools for the 2019 - 2020 school year.  Due to an amazing response from the community, volunteers were placed in every first- and second-grade classroom across the county! We want to continue to help our students and need volunteers like YOU!

Volunteers typically spend an hour a week in a classroom during reading time.  They work individually or with a small group of students on activities provided by the teacher.
