SUPERPOWERED SUCCESS: Congratulations, Clear Creek Elementary School's Green Seas LEGO Robotics Team! Lawson Hovarth, Holly Chance, Noah Dale, Katie Martel, Mekenzie Moss, Lily Wilson, Scarlett Lalla, Sarah Rampley, and Christian Sanders competed at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Invitational in Massachusetts over the weekend! WPI boasts many notable alumni, including Dean Karen, the founder of FIRST Robotics and inventor of the Segway and iBOT!
The competition included 75 teams from 18 countries and 33 states! Highlights included earning their best competition robot score, working closely with a Missouri team and nearly advancing during lightning rounds, and making new friends from Belgium and the United Kingdom. They even traded t-shirts with their new buddies from the UK at the end of the event!
During downtime, Green Seas toured Boston and watched a Woo Sox Baseball game where a robot threw out the ceremonial first pitch!
We're so proud of this team and their coaches, Robin Morrow and Jennifer Martel!
Join us in congratulating them once again!

THE "STEMAZING" RACE: They came. They saw. They conquered. That's a wrap on this year's Summer STEM Camp! More than 120 Bartow County students honed their animated filmmaking techniques, coding, and problem-solving skills in many different areas! They even came up with solutions to real-world problems! Special thanks to our STEM Camp Leaders, Kelly & Shelly Abernathy, Jen Colston, Laura Hughes, Robin Morrow, and Amanda Segars. This would also not have been possible without our Adairsville, Cass, and Woodland student volunteers and Kona Ice for providing all our t-shirts, once again!

STEM FORUM: Bartow County is well-represented at today's Northwest Georgia RESA STEM Forum at Georgia Highlands College! Take a look at some of our amazing presenters who are educating state and local leaders and many neighboring systems on various topics, including the integration of school gardens into the classroom, middle school technology, and how we're able to achieve state STEM certification!
Good work, Bartow County educators!

SUMMER INTERVENTION: Learning extended! We are so excited to be able to offer the Summer Intervention program for the third year in a row to all students who are not yet proficient on their identified essential standards. Throughout the month of June, our teachers will work with students in the morning hours to ensure they're prepared to move on to the next grade level. They exit the program once they've met proficiency on their essential standard(s).
Special thanks to our teachers, school nutrition staff, and bus drivers as meals and transportation to and from schools are also free.
We are always committed to learning!

CENTRAL OFFICE CELEBRATIONS: When you work in a school system and community like this, you have a lot to celebrate! And, if you know Superintendent Page, then you know he likes to celebrate the RIGHT WORK. In the Bartow County School System, the right work supports learning, collaboration, and results. That's what we value.
This month, we celebrate and honor Alisha Evans, our Communications Coordinator. You've heard her voice many times announcing school delays and cancellations, but did you know she also helped create the mass communication system we all know and love today? With her help, the entire System (schools and Central Office) can send calls, emails, and texts to students and staff. She also helped create our very first app and led the transition to the website we have now, which won the highest award from the state of Georgia. Alisha has her hand in many of the pictures and videos you see across our social media sites, and it's clear that her passion lies in telling OUR STORY. She makes us all better! Congratulations, Alisha!

COMING UP: You won't want to miss this!

SUMMER MEALS: More than 4,200 children were fed today through the Bartow County School System!
Some were fed during summer camps and programs, others visited one of our 23 locations.
SPECIAL THANKS to our School Nutrition staff. What an important job they do! Because of these workers, some children have warm meals this summer that they may not have had otherwise. Let that sink in. The gravity of the situation is not lost on us. Let's give these workers a 🙌🏽. THANK YOU!

A WILDCAT WIN: Let's give a BIG BARTOW welcome to Ms. Cecilia Clark, Woodland High School's new band director!
"After a rigorous search, Ms. Clark emerged as the perfect combination of our priorities," said WHS Principal Dave Stephenson. "She is a master communicator, she relates strongly with young musicians, she is deeply esteemed in the music educator’s community, and she reflects our school and community’s priorities. Ms. Clark lives here in Cartersville and is excited to build on the achievements of Woodland Band."
Ms. Clark has been the Allatoona High School band director since 2013. Prior to that, she was the associate band director at McEachern High School from 2006-2013. She began her career in Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Duquesne University, which is also where she earned her master’s degree. Ms. Clark is pursuing her doctorate through Boston University.
Under Ms. Clark’s leadership, Allatoona High School won its first Bands of America Championship and earned a U.S. Bands Regional Championship. Her concert bands have consistently received superior ratings at GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluations.
Ms. Clark is program coordinator and Leadership Faculty for Music for All, Inc., a music education advocacy group based in Indianapolis, and she is a member of multiple professional organizations, including Women Band Directors International, the National Band Association, the National Association for Music Education, GMEA, Servant Leadership Association for Music, Tri-M Music Honor Society and Percussive Arts Society.
