AES PTO presents Doughnuts for Grownups this Thursday and Friday in the AES cafeteria during your student's lunch time (see flyer for time). Please note that the time doesn't reflect the teachers' specific time but the "grade level" time. We are not asking for RSVP this year, but we are asking that you chose one day to participate not both due to the limited parking and student enrollment.
Have fun and enjoy a treat from AES PTO & AES saying thank you for being a special part of our TIGER FAMILY.

Thank you TIGER FAMILIES for keeping AES on TOP.

AES will be closed next week for Spring Break. Staff and students will return on April 13.

We turned our leprechaun trap project into a fun STEAM activity after reading a book for inspiration! The children used Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math skills as they planned and built their traps.
They explored engineering by designing and constructing their traps using a variety of materials, thinking about how to catch a tricky leprechaun. Through science, they made predictions about what might work best and tested their ideas. The children practiced math skills by measuring, comparing sizes, and figuring out how to balance and connect materials.
This activity also supported fine motor development as they cut, glued, and assembled small pieces with care. Creativity really shined through the art component, especially when they added special touches like jewels—because we learned leprechauns love sparkly things!
It was such a fun, hands-on way to encourage problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork while bringing our story to life. 🍀

Today, students participated in a STEAM activity where they created their own clocks after learning the nursery rhyme Hickory, Dickory Dock. As they wrote and ordered the numbers on their clocks, children practiced important math skills such as counting, sequencing, and understanding quantity. Building the clocks also encouraged problem‑solving and flexible thinking as students figured out where each number should go and how a clock works.
Throughout the activity, students showed curiosity, initiative, and persistence as they explored materials and worked both independently and with classmates. Using fine motor skills, they carefully wrote numerals and placed them on their clocks. During discussions, children used language to explain their ideas, describe their clocks, and make connections between time and their daily routines.
This hands‑on STEAM experience supported early learning across multiple areas: mathematical reasoning, science and engineering concepts, fine motor development, and language and literacy growth. Students demonstrated number sense, early writing skills, and an understanding of how things work—all while engaging creatively and enthusiastically in the learning process.

This week our small groups will look a little different as we play festive “Reindeer Games”! Each activity is designed to support Georgia Pre-K STEM skills through hands-on, playful learning:
Ornament Mazes – Children practice problem-solving, spatial awareness, and critical thinking as they navigate mazes. (Science/Engineering)
Candy Cane Fishing – Builds fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and early measurement concepts as children experiment with different tools and strategies. (Engineering/Math)
Christmas Tree Building – Encourages engineering design, balance, and planning as children construct trees using cups and Pom Pom's. . (Engineering/Math)
Pin the Nose on Rudolph – Supports spatial reasoning, observation skills, and following directions. (Science/Math)
These activities promote collaboration, experimentation, and problem-solving, aligning with GA Pre-K’s focus on learning through play while keeping the holiday spirit alive 🎄🦌
