Woodland's Teacher of the Week is Ms. Holly Maldonado, our Associate Band Director! Focused on building each and every Wildcat musician into being their very best, Ms. Maldonado provides continual assessment and instruction to her students.
The accolades and accomplishments of our band keep coming! Woodland’s Wind Symphony was the Featured Ensemble at UGA’s high school band festival this evening! Mr. Kobito, Ms. Maldonado, Ms. Smith and Mr. Willoughby each conducted a portion of the performance.
WHS welcomed rising 8th graders from Woodland and Red Top Middle Schools this week. Thank you to our fine arts department for sharing the great opportunities our band, chorus, theater, dance and 2D arts provide our kids!
Our Teacher of the Month for December is Ms. Jodi Bell! Ms. Bell teaches US history and is our Social Studies Lead. Ms. Bell ensures our students understand and appreciate our nation's history while providing care and support to her colleagues. We appreciate you, Ms. Bell!
The Woodland Wind Symphony has been chosen as a featured performing group at the University of Georgia High School Honor Band Clinic. The featured performance for over 1000 high school honor band participants and their directors will be in Athens, Georgia at the Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 19. The band will also perform a preview concert here in Cartersville for parents and community members in the Woodland PAC on Thursday, January 12 at 7:00 PM.
We are delighted to recognize our amazing attendance clerk, Ms. Rebecca Mathis as our December Support Staff of the Month! Ms. Mathis knows and adores each and every Wildcat, and she is fully committed to the wellbeing of everyone in our Wildcat community.

New Wildcat Period Format--
Students will now go to SPECIFIC classes for interventions and extensions during Wildcat Period. More Wildcats will receive the support they need, and more time will be available. Attendance will be taken in each Wildcat Period session.

Testing and End of Semester Schedule:
State EOC testing for Biology, Algebra 1, American Lit, and US History takes place the week of 12/5 to 12/9. Testing takes place in the morning.
Students who are absent for a test will make it up the following week.
In all other classes, new learning wraps up the week of December 9th.
The week of 12/12 to 12/16 is Tier 2 Week. Students who still need to demonstrate proficiency on essential standards will focus on review and reassessment. Others will focus on mastery and improving their learning outcomes to improve grades.
Attendance will be taken throughout the week. Please remember that Friday the 16th is an early release day and students will be dismissed at 12:30.
