CTAE Month at Adairsville: Mr. Goble was born in Tampa, Florida and raised in Pickens County. A proud graduate of Pickens High School, Class of 1997, he spent 30 years in the construction industry before going back to school and earning his degree from Dalton State in 2019. He brings decades of real-world experience straight into the classroom.

Now in his 5th year at Adairsville High School, Mr. Goble teaches all things construction and serves as the advisor for SkillsUSA. His favorite thing about CTAE is the hands-on lessons — giving students the opportunity to build, create, and develop skills they can take directly into the workforce.

His dedication to students and career education has not gone unnoticed. Mr. Goble is the 2026 AHS Teacher of the Year, Georgia Construction Teacher of the Year, a Georgia CTAE Teacher of the Year nominee, serves on the Board of Directors for TIEGA, and has been nominated for SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year.

We are incredibly proud to have Mr. Goble leading our construction program and representing AHS CTAE at the highest levels.

CTAE Month at Adairsville: Mrs. Payton is originally from Cartersville, Georgia, and has studied at BYU–Hawaii, Coastal Carolina University, Grand Canyon University, and Berry College.

She has been at Adairsville High School for 12 years and serves as the administrator of what she proudly calls “the best CTAE department you’ll ever find!” Her steady leadership, encouragement, and advocacy help our programs grow and thrive each year.

Her favorite thing about CTAE is preparing students for life. Whether a student’s next step is entering the workforce, pursuing technical training, or continuing their education, CTAE equips them with practical life skills and real-world application that prepare them for whatever path they choose.

As a CTAE department, we are incredibly thankful for Mrs. Payton’s leadership, support, and belief in the work we do. She champions our teachers, celebrates our students, and continually pushes us to be better for kids. We are grateful to serve under her leadership!

CTAE Month at Adairsville: Mr. Ford is originally from “Out West.” He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, lived in both Colorado and Texas growing up, and moved to Rome, Georgia in 1993, where he has been ever since.

He earned his degree in Physics from Berry College in 2000, his Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Valdosta State University in 2016, and his Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont University in 2020.

Mr. Ford has been at Adairsville High School since 2009. He currently teaches Fundamentals of Aerospace, Flight Operations and Unmanned Aircraft, Computer Science Principles and Programming, Games and Apps in Society, and Industry Fundamentals of Occupational Safety. He also serves as a co-advisor for SkillsUSA.

His favorite thing about CTAE is that it allows students to apply what they are learning in their other classes. CTAE answers the question students often ask: “When am I ever going to use this?” These courses integrate multiple areas of study into one hands-on experience that teaches real, marketable skills.

We’re grateful for the knowledge, experience, and real-world focus he brings to AHS!

CTAE Month at Adairsville: Mr. Torrence is originally from Northern Illinois, in the south suburbs of Chicago, and brings a wealth of experience to Adairsville High School. He has studied at Floyd College, Southern Polytechnic State University, Olivet Nazarene University, Governor’s State University, and Berry College.

Now in his 11th year at AHS, Mr. Torrence teaches Introduction to Engineering and Technology, Applications in Engineering, and Magnet Internship. Through these courses, he equips students with technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and industry-based experience that prepares them for life beyond high school.

His favorite thing about CTAE is simple and direct: real-world career preparation and application — hands on. He values giving students the opportunity to build, design, create, and apply what they learn in meaningful ways that translate directly into future careers.

We are grateful for the consistency, expertise, and practical focus he brings to our CTAE department!

CTAE Month at Adairsville: Mrs. Hester is originally from right up the road in Calhoun, Georgia, and is a proud graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in the Art of Teaching at Emmanuel University while continuing to grow the agriculture program at AHS.

In her second year at Adairsville High School, she teaches Basic Agricultural Science, Animal Science and Biotechnology, Small Animal Care, and Veterinary Science. She also serves as an advisor for FFA and the National Technical Honor Society, working to build leadership, opportunity, and pride within the CTAE department.

Her favorite thing about CTAE is watching students discover what they are passionate about. CTAE, especially FFA, changed her life, and she loves seeing it change the lives of her students. There is nothing better than introducing a student to agriculture for the first time and helping them see the connection between everyday life and what they are learning in the classroom.

She is proud to serve AHS students and to continue building a program that prepares them for college, careers, and leadership.

CTAE Month at Adairsville: Originally from Americus, Georgia, Mrs. Crosby brings an incredible academic background to Adairsville High School. She earned her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech, her M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University, and is currently completing her Ph.D. in Integrative STEM Education at Virginia Tech, expected May 2026.

In her third year at AHS, Mrs. Crosby teaches Engineering Foundations and Engineering Applications in the fall, Engineering Concepts and Robotics in the spring, and Esports year-round. She also advises FRC Robotics and TSA, leading students in innovation, teamwork, and high-level problem solving through competition and hands-on application.

What she loves most about CTAE is how it bridges the gap between theory and practice. CTAE allows students to take abstract academic concepts and apply them in real, meaningful ways, helping learning feel relevant and purposeful. We are grateful for the energy, expertise, and forward-thinking mindset she brings to our CTAE department!

CTAE Month at Adairsville: Mr. Joslin grew up in Cartersville, Georgia, and attended Cass High School. After graduation, he has lived in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee before returning home to invest in students right here at AHS. He earned his degree from Jacksonville State University.

He currently teaches Basic Agricultural Science, Agricultural Mechanics, and Horticulture, and this is his 9th year in education. Mr. Joslin also serves as one of our FFA advisors, helping lead and mentor students in leadership, competition, and service.

His favorite thing about CTAE is the ability to teach practical, hands-on skills that students can turn into a career, or at the very least, a lifelong hobby. Whether it’s welding, plant science, or foundational ag skills, he equips students with real-world knowledge they can use beyond the classroom.

We are thankful for the dedication and steady leadership he brings to our agriculture program and FFA chapter!

CTAE Month at Adairsville: Mr. Higginbotham (Coach Higgy) is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and has studied at Mercer University, Jacksonville State University, Shigionoth Seminary, and Berry College.

He currently teaches AP Computer Science A (AP CSA), AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP), Audio-Video Technology (AV Tech), and Magnet Computer Science. He has been at Adairsville High School for 7.5 years, making a huge impact in our CTAE department.

Mr. Higginbotham also advises SkillsUSA AV, helping students develop technical skills, creativity, and professionalism through competition and hands-on experiences.

When asked his favorite thing about CTAE, his answer was simple and powerful: “The people… adults and kids.” And if you know him, that makes perfect sense. CTAE is about relationships, mentorship, and creating opportunities, and Mr. Higginbotham embodies that every day.

We’re grateful for the energy, expertise, and heart he brings to AHS!

CTAE Month at Adairsville: Dr. Brown is originally from Rome, Georgia, and earned her undergraduate degree from Berry College (she also holds advanced degrees from the University of West Georgia, Lincoln Memorial University, and Argosy University).

She currently teaches Work-Based Learning (WBL) and is celebrating an incredible 30 years at Adairsville High School! Over the years, she has also formerly sponsored FBLA, helping students grow as leaders and professionals.

Dr. Brown’s favorite thing about CTAE is that it reaches students who thrive in hands-on environments or in subjects they are truly interested in. She especially values the role of CTSOs, which are co-curricular with CTAE pathways. For many students, these organizations are like a sport, a place where they can compete, excel, and truly shine.

She also believes strongly in the impact CTAE has on student success. For some students, CTAE classes are the very reason they stay engaged and graduate high school.

We are so thankful for Dr. Brown’s dedication, leadership, and 30 years of service to AHS and our CTAE department!

We are so proud to recognize Cloey Kelley as our CTAE Student of the Month! 👏💚💛

Cloey has truly shined in the Teaching as a Profession pathway at Adairsville High School. Through her internship at Adairsville Elementary, she has proven herself to be dedicated, dependable, and incredibly talented in the education field. She shows up every single day, ready to work, never missing, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Mrs. Heather Baker shared, “I could not be prouder of the young lady she is becoming! She is always willing to help all of the kids she comes in contact with. I know she is going to do great things in her own classroom one day!” 💛

Cloey is already leading calendar time daily and has taught the 95% program with confidence and professionalism. She takes her role seriously and pours into students not only in Kindergarten, but also in 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade classrooms—stepping in wherever she is needed.

Cloey represents what CTAE is all about: real-world experience, leadership, dedication, and heart. We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see the impact you make in your own classroom one day! 🍎✨

CTAE Month at Adairsville: A proud Adairsville native and AHS Class of 2010, Mr. Justin Evans returned home to teach after earning his Bachelor’s degree from Reinhardt University and his Master’s degree from Georgia Southern University. This is his 3rd year at Adairsville High School, where he teaches Examining the Teaching Profession, Contemporary Issues in Education, and Teaching as a Profession Practicum.

Mr. Evans’ favorite part of CTAE is the real-world experiences students gain while exploring different career paths. Many students enter the education pathway unsure, but through hands-on practicum and internship experiences, they often discover a true passion for teaching. Watching students commit to pursuing education as a career is what makes this pathway so meaningful.

We’re proud to celebrate educators who are shaping the next generation of teachers right here at AHS!

Happy CTAE Month
We are very excited that several of our CTAE students were able to tour the Delta Operations Center in Atlanta on Monday, February 9th.
Students learned about internships, career opportunities and pathways for advancement within the Delta company. They witnessed first hand the professional collaboration that takes place in the Operations Center to keep a world-wide fleet of airplanes operating safely and pretty much on time.
Each student was able to have some time in the pilot seat of the Airbus330 simulator.
The trip culminated with an investigative tour of the engineering marvel that is the Boeing 747.
We want to thank everyone who made this experience possible for our students!
