Congratulations to Jacob Hyde on earning third place in Animation at the Georgia Student Technology Competition hosted by the Georgia Educational Technology Consortium in McDonough.
He represented the school, district, and region very well in a competition that included over 1,000 students from across the state!
Jacob won the regional division in January for his Stop Motion project which qualified him to the statewide competition.
We are so proud of you, Jacob!

From Mrs. Hall,
Reminder: Please have all Pre-K registration forms completed and handed in before 2:00 pm tomorrow!
This awesome student built a rocket and landing pad using magnetic tiles.

After reading Hedgie Blasts Off by Jan Brett, students in Mrs. McGaha's class built rockets from either Keva planks, magnet tiles, or LEGOs.

We love our Pine Log PTCO! They are so supportive of the PLES learning environment. Please mark your calendar to attend Book Bingo on March 7th from 5pm-7pm

We are looking for community partners to help our third through fifth-grade students with their Killdeer project.
We need the following :
1) A partner to rip up a sod area that is 12 x 23 meters.
2) Partner(s) to donate gravel, sand, wood chips, etc. for our quadrants.
The first Killdeer nest was found today, February 26. We need to have the students build this habitat now.
Please reach out to Mr. Smith at judson.smith@bartow.k12.ga.us if you can help. You can also call the school at 770-606-5864.
We appreciate your help!

The Killdeer are back! We need your help getting supplies for our bird sanctuary. Please help save this protected species and our playground by donating supplies to create a bird sanctuary.

We kicked off Read Across America Week with a guest appearance from DJ ANT! This student came ready to spin some record-breaking reading goals today.
Today, we are reading our blues away by dressing as a musician or wearing the color blue.
Second-grade students in Mrs. Allen's Computers class continued exploring STEM-building skills in the Learning Log. These students used Keva planks to build a bridge tall enough for a Hess truck to drive under and strong enough for the Hess truck to drive over.

It's National School Counseling Week with a focus on empowering success.
We're sending a big shoutout to Mrs. Francie Livingston, our school counselor, who works daily to empower success for all Pine Log students. Mrs. Livingston has been the counselor at PLES for 20 years and she loves to help all Pine Log stakeholders. In addition to teaching social skills in whole classes, small groups, and individuals, Mrs. Livingston also organizes Back Pack Buddies, Healthy Habits Week, the Thanksgiving Food Drive, the Christmas Assistance Program, Shop with a Hero, the Dojo Store, afternoon car riders, duty-free lunch, and so much more. Mrs. Livingston will help anyone and cares about everyone with the warmest heart in all of Pine Log.
Thank you, Mrs. Livingston, for all you do to make Pine Log the happiest place on Earth!
Traffic jam! Students from Mrs. Gilbert's class worked on coding and robotics during Mrs. Allen's computer class. Each student used a Marty the Robot to move a Hess truck without to touching the truck. Mrs. Allen teaches STEM through coding and robotics in order to help students build 21st-Century skills for a successful future.

Students in Mrs. Jensen's class visited the Learning Log with Mrs. Allen and Ms. Rebecca during their Computers class time. Today, these second graders used a tablet to code a Marty the Robot to move a Hess truck. Mrs. Allen has been teaching students block coding in her classes.

During a recent visit to the Learning Log, Kindergarten students used LEGOs to build a flower or vegetable garden to go along with the book How Groundhog Grew His Garden by Lynne Cherry.

Kindergarten students in Mrs. McGaha's class visited the Learning Log MakerSpace to practice building skills. We love donations for the MakerSpace including gently-used tools, LEGOs, Lincoln logs, and batteries.

Mrs. Alford honored the Students of the Month for Engagement this morning. Family members cheered on these students with great pride.
Be sure to look for the update on the Students of the Month in our Spotlights section.

Good morning and Happy Friday, Pine Log family! Today is a great day to show Pride, Leadership, Engagement, and Safety.
