We had our last Student of the Month recognition today for April and May. The character word for April was patience and for May was leadership. These students were selected by their teachers for exhibiting these character traits around our school. We are so proud of these and all our SOTM's throughout the year. You can view the videos made by the teachers on our website. #TheWoodlandWayEveryStudentEveryDay #BetterInBartow

We are excited to announce our new Assistant Principal, Lauren Gentry. Ms. Gentry will be replacing Dr. Teri Mull, who is retiring at the end of this school year. Ms. Gentry comes to us from Red Top Middle School, where she has served for the last 15 years. She taught Language Arts and Social Studies for seven years, and has been an instructional coach for the last eight years. She transitioned to being the math coach this year after serving as the Instructional Lead Teacher for seven years before that. Her experience has prepared her well for this next step in her journey as an educator. She is excited to become a Wildcat and help us grow to new heights.

Ms. Gentry received her bachelors degree in middle grades education from West Georgia College. She received her master's degree in instructional technology from Kennesaw State University and is currently pursuing her specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Tier 1 Leadership from Kennesaw Sate.

Lauren is married to Chad. They have three children: Chad, Jr., Colin and Lorilei. We asked her a few questions to get to know her.

What do you like to do in your spare time? My favorite hobbies are reading and hiking.

What is one interesting fact some may not know about you? I" have a twin sister named Lindsey, who is also a middle school teacher.” Lauren is the oldest, by the way (by 34 minutes).

What do you love most about Bartow County School System? Without hesitation, she replied, "I love the kids the most."

What is an important lesson you learned in your time at South Central/Red Top Middle School? "The most important gift I can give a kid is a good education."

Who is your favorite college team? "Of course, the Georgia Bulldogs."

We are excited to have Lauren join our administrative leadership team at Woodland Middle School. #TheWoodlandWayEveryStudentEveryDay #BetterInBartow
