Meet Ms. Hannah Dodd, our new school counselor. Ms. Dodd comes to us from Villa Rica High School. We are so blessed to have her join our team. Here is Ms. Dodd in her own words: "I am so excited to be joining the counseling department at Woodland Middle! Before coming to Woodland I attended Berry College where I received my degree in Communication, and then University of West Georgia where I received my Masters and Specialist in Counseling. I have worked with children and adolescents for 9 years and this will be my 4th year as a school counselor. I am passionate about giving students the resources they need to thrive and truly enjoy building relationships throughout the process. Outside of work I love reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to working with you this school year! "
Welcome to Wildcat Nation, Ms. Dodd. #TheWoodlandWay

Please welcome our new 8th ELA teacher, Isabelle Prater. Isabelle is not new to WMS this year. She was a student teacher with us last year. She did such a good job that we decided to turn that student teaching gig into a regular teaching gig.
Here's what Ms. Prater has to say about becoming a Wildcat: "My name is Isabelle Prater. I was born and raised in Cartersville, and I graduated from Cass High School a couple of years ago. I love to travel and spend time with my family and friends. It is a dream of mine to be able to visit all of Europe. I am beyond excited to be teaching in the community where I grew up and to be joining the Woodland family. Go Wildcats! "
Welcome to the family, Ms. Prater.

Greetings WMS Wildcat Family:
We are so excited to begin the 2024-2025 school year next week. Our teachers and staff have been working hard to make this year the very best yet. We are ready to welcome our students back to school and get this year going.
Open House will be Tuesday, July 30. There are three times for Open House:
8th Grade: 10:30 - 11:30 am
7th Grade: 1:30 - 2:30 pm
6th Grade: 5:00 -6:00 pm
The last session will also be a makeup session if you cannot make it at your appointed time.
The first day of school is Thursday, August 1. The school day is 8:15 - 3:15. Doors will open at 7:30 am. Students will be considered tardy if they are not in homeroom by 8:15 am.
Our school motto for this year is: "One goal: be the best; One way: get better every day." We as a staff are making a commitment to make this goal a reality. We are asking students and parents to join in and make the commitment with us. We want to be the very best in every area. Together, we can make this dream come true this year.
Please enjoy your last few days of summer break. We look forward to seeing you all at Open House on Tuesday, 7/30/24 and on the first day of school, Thursday, 8/1/24.
Sincerely,
Michael Blankenship
Principal

Part 2. Our motto this year is "One goal: be the best; one way: get better every day." We started day one with this mindset. This day of celebration was a great start. Thanks again to @PrichardInjuryFirm for your support and partnership. #TheWoodlandWay

Our teachers are back today for the first day of preplanning. We wanted to celebrate our achievements from last year and just let them know how glad we are to welcome them back, so we took them for a time of bowling and pizza at @LakePoint. We had a blast. And we have some pretty good bowlers also. A huge shoutout to @PrichardInjuryFirm for sponsoring this event. What a blessing to have such supportive community partners for our school.
