
Please welcome Donna Buffington, who is one of our new Special Education teachers. Ms. Buffington has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Business Management and a Master of Arts in Teaching. She has previously worked as an elementary Paraprofessional for 5 years, a self-contained teacher at Hamilton Crossing for 9 years, and as a co-teacher in grades 5-8 ELA at Cherokee Charter Academy.


Woodland is proud to welcome Kate Justus, who is our new Art teacher. After traveling and living in Orlando, FL and Nashville, TN, Ms. Justus is excited to return to her hometown of Cartersville, GA where she is beginning her first year of teaching. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design at Bellevue University and is looking forward to sharing her love for art with her students. Ms. Justus will also be coaching the Freshman volleyball team at WHS and hopes to be involved in other school organizations throughout the school year.


Meet another one of our new 6th grade teachers, Ms. Sherry Spinks. Ms. Spinks earned a bachelor’s degree at Shorter University and a master’s degree at Nova Southeastern University. She previously taught for 15 years at Euharlee Elementary and has worked as the Area Director for FCA Bartow for the past 5 years. Ms. Spinks has decided to get back into the classroom where she will be teaching 6th grade science. Welcome to Woodland!


Woodland is proud to welcome our new Chorus teacher, Ms. Megan Moore. She graduated in May from Reinhardt University with a Bachelor of Music Education. This is her first year teaching, and says that being a middle school chorus teacher is my dream job!


WMS welcomes Kasi Reynolds, who will be teaching 8th grade social studies. Mrs. Reynolds has previously taught 6th-9th ELA and 8th grade social studies at Cartersville Middle/High Schools. She earned her Bachelor in Education and a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University. She has played various sports and now loves to work with student athletes with strength and agility training. Mrs. Reynolds grew up in Cartersville and went through the Woodland School System. She loves her “hometown” where she lives with her husband and four kids. Welcome to Woodland!


Meet one of our new Special Education teachers, Ms. Tomie Couzzart. Ms. Couzzart has earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’ degree in special education from the University of West Georgia. She comes to us from Rome City Schools, and is excited to join WMS as a 6th grade inclusion teacher.


Please welcome Mackensey Bennett, who will be teaching 6th grade math. Ms. Bennett recently graduated from Shorter University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Grades Education. It is her first year teaching and is so excited for this school year!


WMS welcomes Amy Tice as one of our new 8th grade teachers. She will be teaching Algebra and science. Ms. Tice received her degree from Kennesaw State University, and this makes her 11th year teaching. She has two daughters, and when she isn’t teaching, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, crafting, going to concerts, and spending time with family. She is looking forward to the 2022-2023 school year and being a Woodland Wildcat!


School is officially back in session, and we want to recognize the new members of our Wildcat Faculty. We know they will all be a great asset to our school, and we are so glad they are here!
Please welcome Abbey Yohe, who will be teaching 8th grade ELA. Mrs. Yohe obtained her undergrad degree at the University of West Georgia (Go Wolves!) and her master’s degree at Berry College. Previously, she has taught at South Central and in Paulding County, but she is very happy to be back “home” in Bartow County and as a Woodland Wildcat!


Open House is Monday, August 1. 8th grade is at 10:30. 7th grade is at 1:30 pm. 6th grade is at 5:00, along with makeup sessions for the other two grades if you can’t make the scheduled time. We will have two overview sessions for 6th grade, one at 5:00 and one at 5::30. Both are the same, so choose one to attend. They will be in the cafeteria. See you there.


Local Law Enforcement Agencies are conducting a training today at WMS. This is only a training. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school.

We are so happy to announce that parents will not have to provide basic school supplies this year. All basic supplies are being provided by the district through federal relief funding. If there are additional supplies needed by individual teachers, those needs will be provided at Open House. #TheWoodlandWay
